Città della Pieve: look up!

We have been to Città della Pieve many times since the first in 1998 but we have never stayed here. It is such an appealing place. This morning we followed their walking paths around the old walls and down narrow vicoli (laneways).

My photographic slant on this expedition was to Look Up! So here are some shots looking up at things that can often be missed.

Fig tree above and caper berry bush below, growing out of grooves in the wall.

There were some nice things looking down too.

A decorative cover on the door to the gas meter.

Making the most of your little piece of paradise.

Street lighting by candle, or maybe insect repellents.

Tonight we had dinner at Taverna del Perugino and for the first time I saw melon and prosciuto on the menu. I had to have it!

This is only half the serve, I had already eaten the other half. Because Kel didn't order an antipasto they brought him his pizza. By the time I was ready for my pizza Kel had about finished. See the photo.

The pizzas were huge, thin based and crispy. I brought some of mine home in foil.

After wandering the streets in the dark for a while we found space for a small gelato.

Summer in Italy is the most magical time, especially in the country. At 10 pm tonight the crowds were beginning to gather in the piazza - all ages, all well dressed, all happy and all enjoying gelati.
