With very active days recently the blog and the journal have got behind so that was a priority. When you are writing a day or two after the event it is much more difficult to do. The memory is not what it used to be!
Then there are the very Italian things like taking your recycling and garbage to the drop off points. Luckily all are just across the road a bit from our gated community. There are bins for glass, plastics, cardboard, compostibles and Indifferenziata. I love that one, it means all other waste that doesn't go in the other bins.
Late in the afternoon we did a walk around the block. That meant walking through the underpass to the other side of the station. As Kel said, our most walked road in Bologna. As you can see, it is also the entrance to the platforms for the trains. This was obviously a quiet moment.
Once out of the railway precinct we crossed to a monument which we had seen but not visited. It is a grandiose entrance into a public park and also contains part of Bologna's fortified walls. They dated from the early 14th century to late 16th c.
The large gardens had a circular path, a fountain and some old statues, some green grass and nice shade trees. Families were enjoying the area and it seemed popular with the young immigrant men.
We lapped around the park then back into via Indepenza, then turned right into this portico which looks to be the most modern we have seen
At the roundabout, site of a previous fracas on day one here, we stopped for an aperitivo, the ever popular Aperol Spritz.
Emilia Romagna region has been interesting and Bologna a great base for further travel. We are ready for our next stop, a short stay at Città della Pieve, less than half an hour from Panicale.
