To market, to market ... and then lunch

I have mentioned that the Italian ladies in the country depend on the weekly markets, so when you slip over on a 'strada bianca' and cut a hole in your pants, you need to go to the market. Luckily I had seen a haberdashery stall at Castiglione del Lago market so I was able to buy a small iron-on patch. Peaches are in season so we bought some to enjoy but I'm  not sure about crystallized hibiscus flowers.

C d L was looking lovely today and I couldn't resist a few photos.

From Castiglione del Lago we drove anti clockwise around the lake as far as San Feliciano where we stopped for lunch. Giramondo caught Kel's attention, a tranquil setting right on the lake and with lake fish on the menu. Their interesting place mats caught my attention.

Kel had a tagliolini with 'sapori a lago' - flavours of the lake, which had pieces of lake trout in it. I had gnocchi with shrimp and lime. Both looked good and tasted good too. We decided to have a sweet as we haven't been indulging (other than gelato). Tiramisù was our choice but it wasn't  a traditional one. Rather delicious nonetheless.

Siesta time once we returned home.

  1. We've been to Giro Mondo several times, just to have a glass of wine and enjoy the lovely lawn and views...never have eaten there. So, now I'm inspired to do lunch! Thanks, guys!!

  2. Your blog is truly incredible, your pictures (particularly the ancient gardens), your dialogue, your vast knowledge on all things and your daily subjects....truly...you should be working for National Geographic! You need more exposure other than us, the few lucky recipients that have found you. Truly outstanding eye for all things..well done!
