The joys of Umbrian life

Monday is market day at Tavernelle, 4 kms down the hill from Panicale. It is a much bigger town than Panicale but part of the Commune of Panicale.
We like this market because it is well spread out and has all the stalls you could wish for. Our favourite porchetta man was there so we brought home slices of seasoned and roasted pork for lunch.

We visited La Querciolana winery and bought three bottles of wine. The green of a vineyard is hard to beat.

Once again the afternoon was spent in peace and pleasure in our garden. I am beginning to relax enough that I don't get up every two minutes to do something that I think is important.

Late in the afternoon we went for a drive around the local area. The air was so clear today that Panicale looked especially beautiful from the Paciano turn-off.

We have been re-visiting all our favourite gelaterie and today these huge gelati came from La Pergola at Olmini, just a couple of kilometres down the hill, on the opposite side of the ridge. It is hard work licking fast enough to avoid losing any when the car says the temperature is over 40!

  1. Each day, a feast for the eyes! More and more wonderful pictures! I'm starting to think you like gelati. Here in Prince Edward Island, we have a very special brand of ice cream called "Cows", they even have stores in Singapore!
Glad you are enjoying...your admirer in Canada.
