Moving on to Granada

Don't  ever think that travel research and early purchase of tickets is a waste of time. Today we travelled on an ALSA coach from Seville to Granada for €5.20 each. The tickets were bought on-line six months ago, the coach was first class and the three hour journey was relaxing and very enjoyable. All round an absolute bargain!

I thought that we had seen lots of olive trees but nothing compares with Spain. The first part of the journey today travelled through flat and undulating farm land with lots of olive trees, as we got into the steeper terrain there were even more olives, as far as the eye could see. Prof. Google tells me that there are about 300 million olive trees in Spain, and I believe him.

For the greater part of today's  journey there were flowering oleander bushes along the median strip.  Beautiful!

The transfer from the bus station to our hotel in Calle Alvira was seamless and our hotel has lots of olde worlde charm.

A wander around our area of Granada brought us to an excellent tapas bar where we bought cool drinks and four tapas, and were given two free. All were excellent, the best we have had.

Icelandic salmon with asparagus, goat's cheese, mango & honey, Iberian ham & cheese, pulled chicken, honey & lemon. The two freebies, not pictured, were tortilla with tomato & aoli and a salad with quinoa & a curry sauce.

At 9.15 pm we went out to find a vacant table at an outdoor eatery. Somehow we ended up climbing right up to Mirador San Nicolas in the Albiacin area opposite the Alhambra. Once again we looked like the oldest people up there. (It is becoming something of a badge of honour!)

Yes, that is snow in the background, and it's  34 degrees here

The sunset was just about past its best so we wandered back down the narrow and winding streets until we came to a good spot to eat. Not only was the food great but the service was friendly and the view perfect.
