Lillo Tatini in Panicale and music in the piazza

This Thursday we decided to dine at Lillo Tatini, a Michelin starred restaurant right in our village. It is always enjoyable because the food is great and the friendly owners have an affection for Australia, their son spent a number of European winters working in restaurants in Sydney.

We had booked to sit in their outdoor area which overlooks the piazza but unfortunately the temperature had dropped to below 20 when we arrived at 8pm. We were offered the chance to go indoors but opted to stay out which meant we could enjoy the crowd gathering for the 9.30pm concert; lots of fun things to look at with children enjoying their freedom in the piazza.

Our food choices were very local. Kel's primo was rabbit served with local mixed beans. Mine was baccalà, the salted cod seen at the markets, and it was served on a bed of chick pea mash. Delicious!

For secondo we again chose local specialities. Kel had a Chianina slow cooked braised beef served on a potato mash and I had roast pigeon with potatoes.

For dolce Kel had his favourite tiramisù which is so much better when made with marscapone and I had a white chocolate parfait with warm dark chocolate sauce.
Add to this some warm cheese rolls, a couple of glasses of vino rosso and a couple of prosecco and you have the menu for a great night.

Despite the cooler night the crowds turned out to hear the three piece group with female singer, called Belly Button.
