We hired a small campervan and settled in with a detour north along the Indian Ocean coast to Jurien Bay.
The main reason for this was to visit Nambung National Park - The Pinnacles. The Pinnacles are amazing limestone structures said to be 30,000 years old, their exact formation is unknown They contain sea shells so it is believed that they may have remained after the sea receded. From there erosion has done its work.
After visiting the Interpretive Centre we were able to drive for many kilometres through the sandy landscape, stopping whenever we wished. It is a fascinating place for photographers, the best times being sunrise and sunset.
What a fascinating National Park. Don't miss it if you are driving along the west coast of Australia.
