Today is San Pellegrino day and relics of San Pellegrino are under the altar in a side chapel in the Collegiata Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Panicale. Pellegrino is the Italian word for pilgrim and I believe that the saint was a soldier and pilgrim who was martyred for his beliefs.
In years past a procession was held but in the last two years that I have been here San Pellegrino has been remembered with music and prayers.
Another view of high up inside this amazingly unusual church.
This afternoon we were invited for coffee to the home of the lady who owns Villa Adriana, our home away from home at present. We had a delightful afternoon with this lovely, very intelligent lady who has such an interesting background. We sat on her terrace and shared stories, ate cake that she had baked and pastries that we had taken, and had an afternoon to remember.
