Yesterday a small group of our Travellers friends visited Cactus Country in Strathmerton, on the Murray Valley Highway in Victoria.
This family run attraction has more than 4000 species of cacti from all over the world set in eight acres of arid garden. It began 25 years ago as a personal collection and has developed into a popular tourist attraction with international and local tourists enjoying the amazing plants, the themed menu in the cafe and the friendly welcome.
As a photographer you don't know where to shoot next; so many wonderful shapes, colours and views. There weren't a lot of flowers, after a very hot summer, but enough to see what spectacular flowers these humble and protective plants produce.
A feature of the cafe is the Mexican theme, both in decoration and menu. Our group enjoyed nachos, Corona beers and a margarita, cactus cake and cactus ripple ice-cream. The experience was delicious!
Thanks for organising such a lovely day
