The market was quite large and we bought tomatoes, apricots and a hat for Kel. The amazing thing was that I bought two linen dresses. Hot weather can make you do strange things!
Tavernelle is not as old as Panicale and doesn't have the same charm. Piazza Mazzini was quite attractive, especially with their reone decorations up. The villages are divided up into areas and these areas compete each year in a variety of activities. The Palio in Siena is probably the most famous example of such a competition.
For the gelati watchers, today's flavours were amareno, zuppa inglese and coco.
A drive up into the hills immediately behind Tavernelle took us to Mongiovino Vecchio where the view was pretty special.
Then it was home to get on with our compiti ( homework ) We are trying to keep our Italian lessons going but we are missing our teacher Maria's help.
In the evening we took one of the several possible routes through the village to Aldo's Bar. I just can't stop taking another photo.
On the way home we amused ourselves with trying to get the best sunset photo ... no sunset enhancer mode allowed.
