How to spend a quiet day

Today we have spent most of our day enjoying the garden and the opportunity to rest a little. It is important that the journal writing does not become a chore so time to sit, write and enjoy was special.

This morning we did some wandering about the village and bought tomatoes and lovely bread for lunch. The shop keepers are a delight, Katia's introductions obviously helping us as we do business part English / part Italian - and that means the ladies in the shops too.

I love the tiles, both the colours and the texture

This is Porta Fiorentina, one of two entrances into the village

This evening we went to a free classical music concert in the old Chiesa della Madonna della Sbarra, pictured above. The renowned  German composer Klaus Huber has been directing Musica Insieme Panicale for some years and this year he celebrates his 90th birthday so he has prepared a special programme to commemorate.
We heard baritone Guido Magnani and pianist Stefano Ragni perform a varied selection of music by composers including Tedesco, Liszt and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

I think I created a monster when I gave Kelly a camera for Christmas!
