Last day in Taormina

Today we planned to visit Isola Bella, a small island that you can walk to when the tide is low. We took the funicular down to Mazzaro and set off on foot amongst the crowds with beach umbrellas and other assorted beach gear. When we reached the rocky beach there was barely a space left, just hundreds of bikini clad bodies roasting in the raging sun. Not for us! We climbed the stairs back to the road and headed for an air conditioned bar.

Kelly found his dream car.

We visited two art exhibitions today. One was a collection of oils all featuring rooms with lots of atmosphere and the other was a retrospective of Corrado Cagli. He had a wide range of styles and subject interests, some of which I liked.

Late this afternoon we threw caution to the wind and took up a front table at the  smartest drinks spot in town. There was another wedding (or two ) at the church so the fashion parade was something to see. With a spectacular looking aperativo called Aperol and little bowls of nuts (with silver spoon), chips & pretzels, we managed to spend more than an hour enjoying the ambience.

We haven't quite mastered the art of the selfie yet

I went to Mass at the Duomo at 8 pm. The ladies were all busy fanning themselves with noisy hand fans again. Doesn't really matter because I cannot keep up with the language anyway!
